SUPERVISOR KEN MILLER
INFORMATION
Dear Fellow West Vincent Township Taxpayer,
Did you know that:
- On 14 April 2000, Supervisor Ken Miller
agreed to sell the development rights on his farm to Toll Brothers for an
undisclosed amount
[Source:
Three Agreements of Sale dated 14 April 2000 between Toll Bros., Inc. and
Kenneth I. Miller, Jr. and Susan Miller]
During the Summer of 2001, Ken Miller applied
for a County grant to sell the same development rights on the same farm to
Chester County [Source:
Northern Chester County Agricultural Conservation Easement Challenge Grant
Program—Program Guidelines, June 2001, p. 3]
In September 2002, Chester County offered Ken
Miller $708,880.00* (to be paid by taxpayers) to purchase the same development
rights that he already sold to Toll Brothers
[Source: Letter dated 27
September 2002 from Kevin Baer, Coordinator of the Chester County Agricultural
Land Preservation Board to Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Miller]
Why did Supervisor Ken Miller
apply to sell his
development rights (i.e., TDRs)
to taxpayers for $708,880.00*
after he already had sold those
same development rights
to mega-developer Toll
Brothers?
Perhaps the answer is yet
another “BECAUSE”...
* $354,440.00 of this amount to
be paid by West Vincent Township taxpayers.
